Guitar Care Tips

Lots of people ask us how to take care of their guitars, so here are some tips:

  • Watch temperature changes. It may be convenient to carry your guitar in the trunk of your car, but the extreme temperature changes can really damage the wood. Don't leave your guitar in the car!
  • Along the same lines, don't keep your guitar in a garage or storage unit. Same idea as a car, temperature changes are bad for wood.
  • Depending on the humidity where you live, you may want to consider a humidifier, or something to decrease the humidity. You can get a humidifier that goes in your case, or you can buy a special case (Humicase) that keeps your guitar at the correct humidity.
  • 3 or 4 times a year, rub olive oil on the fingerboard and the bridge. These areas are usually unfinished, and the olive oil helps keep the wood in good shape.
